TWO more signs...thank the Lord!!!

Remember my post a while back about the 40 Signs of Spring? Remember I had found 4 signs and we still had 36 more signs of spring to go???? (I think I miscounted them in the last post!)

Well, even though nature has not warmed the Upper Peninsula of Michigan much yet, (we got snow in the air day before yesterday morning again, but luckily it didn't accumulate on the ground), I actually found TWO more signs of spring today!!

Here is the first one.

Can you see it??:

Here is a close-up photo and you will see what I mean:

I was so excited!!! My tulips are peeking up through the ground!!

This one turned out a bit blurry, but you can see them better:

And then, when we went to town today, here was the other SIGN of SPRING:

That's right!! The first greenhouse was put up outside of one of the stores, to get ready for the delivery of some garden flowers.

There is hope!!!
Now..only 34 more signs of spring to go !!

Oh Retired One,
I'm so bummed that Spring is so slow to, well, "spring" up there! I perfectly understand your hunt for signs of Spring. Keep us posted on the progress of those tulips!!

Hugs!

Mary: I know! I have been checking them daily for each millimeter of growth!!

Insanity: Me neither! I have about 200 tulips and daffodils planted throughout my yard.

M: are you a few Follower to my blog? Welcome aboard! I will be posting the progress of my tulips as they get bigger!

Sara: I have spring fever: BAD!!! Same to you, little Mama (on the Happy Easter wishes).

Lynn: It is coming...it is coming...each day is bringing a little tiny bit more...

You can also include the fact that it's Easter... that screams SPRING even if the thermometer is being snobby about it!

And may I take this moment to pass along a wonderful Easter to you and your family... Since it isn't completely Spring yet, you may want to wear a turtleneck to dissuade your grand-munchkin (that your milk-store is closed a la your comment on my site).

I'm just happy as all get out that I have an actual honest to goodness babysitter tonight. I put a pack of cards in my purse just in case hubby and I have nothing to discuss at dinner without trying to police the antics of the munchkin ;-) It's our first grown up time alone in over two years... LOL

And a btw, I want to know what you're doing to have so many followers and be totally passing me up in the Alexa rankings as well... and do I need high-speed internet to do it?

Aria: I'd like to think that SPRING is screaming, but no, that is me,swearing AT Spring (totally using bad, bad words that Spring's young ears have never heard the likes of!). Although today I went around to the other side of my house (which hasn't been accessible because of HUGE snowbanks, which have now disappeared)..and lo and behold I found some tulips sprouts up WAY higher than the ones in this blog post! Yippee. It makes my heart leap for joy.
Be careful on that mono a mono romantic dinner tonight..ummm...isn't that how the Munchkin came to being?...Just sayin'.

I think I have been blessed with some more followers because I have made an effort to read as many new blogs as possible and leave comments there and keep following them daily. It takes quite a bit of time to read everyone's blogs on a daily basis (an hour or two a day!) but they are really different from each other. I love photography, so some are focused on that. I love bird watching and catching bird pictures, and some are focused on that. I love antique hunting, and when I posted that I got a slew of new Followers from that post too....Since I own a log home, there were a few blogs that talk about that..etc.
I just found interests like mine and am finding blogs that are passionate about their hobbies and follow because of similar likes.
I need to find some more more with a lot of humor in them soon too..I love those!
If you just keep blogging your hilarious blog, I am sure you will start getting more Followers too.

I admit I had to go to the second photo to see the tulips coming up and they're really coming up!

I love it when I see the first springtime only greenhouse opening up. We actually had the best one in our area open last weekend so guess where I'm going this weekend?

Happy Easter!
Jane

I am more than slightly jealous of your growing tulips. I do not have a green thumb. It's more like, black thumb that spreads death and decay wherever it goes. I killed an aloe plant. I don't think that's possible.

Also, I'm hoping you will take pity on this poor Alabama girl and invite me up to your sprawling log cabin home on a lake. I am 45% serious.

Hang in there...spring is surely on the way.

It was 80 here on Tuesday...today it's 56 with the threat of rain. I guess we still have a ways to go.

Gaston: I will be right beside you in spirit when you go to visit your local greenhouse. I love them!
I hope you have a wonderful holiday.

Kearsie: Well as soon as you get the other 55% serious, let me know. Seriously. We have extra bedrooms and a whole lake to explore. But, you may want to wait about 3 months, July and August are the warmest and prettiest months here!

Loree: I am hanging in there..so far, so good!

Roshni: Are you new to my blog? If you haven't already, please join on as a Follower!!! I love getting more people to follow..my goal is 100 Followers, which would make me a happy, happy woman! And same to you...have a wonderful holiday!

JJ: 80's????!!! Oh my Gosh, Girl...that HURT!
Good for you..you should have a wonderful WARM Easter, then. (Tell that rain to go away and warm back up there!) Folks here are CELEBRATING because we are supposed to be in the 50's and sunny. I guarantee you, I will see people here wearing shorts and driving motorcycles...they go nuts with the break of spring here!

Roshni: I just popped on over to your blog (not a Science Geek)...it was delightful. I added on as a Follower of your's too....!
Thanks!!

I'll bet the other 34 start to show up faster and faster. I think our spring down here is finally here to stay. Yours should be coming soon.

Retired One...my eyes hurt from looking so hard at the first one! I thought I was looking for a nest of baby mice! GLAD IT IS FLOWERS INSTEAD!!

Thank the lord is right! Or maybe we should thank Mother Nature ; )

We get days up around 60 then we're back to 45 for several days in a row. I just want warm weather. period.

Michele said...

Well looky there! That's pretty neat. I have yet to see any of the new little guys poking through the soils but I am sure it won't be too long...

The Retired One said...

Ratty: I am pretty sure you are right! The snow is finally starting to disappear in earnest!

Joanie M: quit your bragging! LOL

Cathy: Baby mice??? Oh, I am so glad I don't have those! ha I found some bigger tulip shoots on the far side of my house which were buried under the snow! (poor things!)

Rainfield61: I will be showing them on future posts..stay tuned!

Carol: Happy Easter to you too! It is so cool to see the rebirth of the flowers and trees here when it finally does happen.

June: yes. As long as we don't get another big snowstorm and it kills them...but I found some larger tulip shoots on the other side of my house that were under a snowbank until the snow just recently melted there. They are amazingly tough!

New England Life: I feel the same way, and our weather is doing the same thing. Luckily we are getting a lot of sun though, which helps alot.

Michele: You have to look close at first to find them...but pretty soon they are very evident and then we wait to see the pretty flowers come out of the stems. I can't wait!

Brittany said...

You better keep us up to date on those tulips and how pretty they are going to get! Down here in the horrid desert, that I moved back to, we don't have pretty things like that. Just cactus. And sand. LOL

The Retired One said...

Brittany: I will take lots of pictures of my tulips when they bloom. I love them! At least you have warmth in the desert, though. I am one step from getting my hair blower out to melt the remaining snow in my yard. ha
