Spring Beauties and other spring beauty.....

Still working on my spring pictures.

Today, we have turtles and wildflowers for you!

I always love spotting the "first" turtle in the wild woods every spring...it just confirms that Spring really DID arrive!:

My photography instructor told us to find a photo of "texture".
This is one of the finalists, but I did not pick it for my class project.

But I do love the texture of the wisps!:

This wildflower is called "Spring Beauty":

This one is called "Trout Lily":

We saw this very ODD root on a little pond...doesn't it look like a snake?:

More "Spring Beauties":

Trout Lily up close!:

As you read this, I am out taking mid-summer photos for you....
This Spring and Summer has been extremely busy so I hope to post again soon...

I hope your summer is going wonderfully for you and bringing you joy and happiness!

Signs of New Life!

When the snow first melts away...
and you see the first signs of spring...
it is exhilarating!

Today I have some pictures taken in early April
here in the U.P.

A time when the snow was finally gone and things began to bud...

No matter WHAT time of year, I love finding mushrooms on wood!:

I LOVED the moss together with the mushrooms on this old stump!:

Me likey the lichen!

I loved the rainbow of colors in this bell-shaped mushroom!:

Moss anyone?

It is such fun to watch life come back into the woods.

Now, we are past Spring and already full into summer...I will have more pictures of our U.P. Spring and summer for you coming up...I am slowly catching up in my blogposts!
I hope your weather and summer is providing you with plenty of beauty and opportunities to get out there to marvel at Nature.

Swan-nee, how I love ya, how I love ya...my dear old SWAN-nee!!!

Nope.

This blogpost is NOT about a river....
but rather about
the wonderful, beautiful swans we caught by surprise one day in the woods at my
favorite beaver pond....

It is so lovely to see them out in the wild....

These were here one day and we went back and they were gone..probably just migrating through our area..
I am so blessed to have been able to see them during their journey north!

Spring Arrived in the U.P.!

Today, I have a hodgepodge of photos I took
as the big meltdown continued in the U.P.

Our snow melting causes high, rushing rivers
and duck and fowl migrations
which I love to see.

A Merganser pair...love these ducks!:

Foggy morning at our lake shore as the ice melted in the warmer air:

I was thrilled to see these wild swans at one of our favorite beaver dams this spring:

LOOK who's peeking at me through the weeds?!!!
A MOOSE!!!!
I took this with my zoom lens, I wasn't this close, so don't worry!:

This was the first turtle we saw of Spring 2012, it was back in April:

I had a photography class assignment to take a picture of a reflection...
I took this one, but ended up not using it for class...I did a different one.

I hope that you are "reflecting" on your wonderful weekend
and getting out in Nature to enjoy it.

We have had rain and COLD (only in the 50's F) today, but it is supposed to warm up to the 70's tomorrow.
