Remind me NOT to attend this Area EVENT !!!

I opened the local newspaper yesterday, and here is the headline that jumps out at me:

I say: WHAT??????

Remind me to stay away from the local events for the next few months!!!

Then, I see what the article really is talking about:

Needless to say, I was relieved that the article was talking about remembering the Holocaust.

(Which is NO joking matter).

Remind me NOT to read my local newspaper very often. It is not good for my ticker....

Glad to hear you don't have to run & hide!

I only read the comics for just that reason.

Shellmo: I know winter has been LONG in the U.P., but gheesh..isn't that a bit drastic???

Mary: I think the comics would definitely be better for my health!

My grief and paranoia stem from anything considered "news". That's why I love me some coffee and good blogs in the morning! :)

Insanity Kim: I will join you for coffee and good blogs in the morning, anytime! I try to start out my day that way on most days.

There really is NO good news so one can understand what your first thought would be. I can't stand to listen to the news...and I can barely stand to watch the damn weather person!

Cathy: I hear ya!

Hmm...maybe I should stop reading the obits.

Good one. I would've been out of town so fast my hat would've still been dangling in the air before it dropped (like in the cartoons).

J.J.: You know what they say! (Any day that you get up and read the paper and not see your own name in the Obits is a good day!)

Marissa: I love when they do that in the cartoons! Do you remember that one with the witch? She would take off and all they would show is dust and her hairpins suspended in mid-air? I LOVED that one. Thanks for that happy memory!

I didn't expect to read about Dr. Seus in the lead paragraph, but I do remember now that he was an activist.

Prefers: I know, actually the article was kind of interesting...when I finally got over the weird headline and figured out what was going on.

I think that's why I don't keep up with the news. If they don't do it by mistake, they'll try to frighten everybody on purpose.

There is actually a Holocaust museum only a few miles from me. It's a very interesting place.

Wow, for a minute I thought you lived in the Sudan!

Oops I have to read the paper everyday, first thing to see what I might need to add to our city website, ads for events, new businesses, etc. and you are right about there often being upsetting things right on the front page. The world is full of sick-o's.

Some headlines are so weird. I am sure they do it on purpose to get people's curiosity and then get them to read the article.

What really annoys me is when I listen to the news programmes in the morning and if they have someone on they're expecting bad news from and they get good news, they are SO disappointed and you can hear it in their voices. Good news is bad news if you're a media presenter.

The Retired One said...

Ratty: Life is too scary for the media to make it even more so!

Jeannie: That's what I was wondering when I saw the first headline!

Grannyann: I always find something goofy in our paper...I share a lot of them in my blog. Don't they have editors anymore?

Loree: Maybe...everyone is in it for sensationalism, right?

Fran: Plus the news seems so slanted these days..everyone has to state their opinion. What ever happened to just reporting the news without any opinion either way?

Sara said...

Yikes, that would be a scary newspaper story!!
Have a great day!

Sara: Yep. Thank goodness the article clarified things! Hang in there, little mama, your time is getting short!
