Florida is for the Birds.
Literally.
I love the birds there...and it is part of the reason I go there.
I am smitten with ALL of the tropical birds and shore birds I see.
To today, I will focus on some shots of them.
Like most folks, the Pelican is one of my favorites.
I am happy to report that after the Gulf oilspill crisis,
we did see a LOT of them again..healthy and beautiful:
I wanted to wrap him up and take him home.
(But I rather doubt he would like my upper Michigan weather!):
I wanted to PET him!:
And, even though beach folks think the seagulls are pesky, I really like them!:
Look at those BLUE peepers! Sigh. I am in LOVE!:
Another Pelican beauty:
Reflecting seagulls:
I think these are Sandpipers:
I loved how they ran scattered on the waves' edge and back....
kind of like ME (only cuter).
Stay tuned, there will be plenty more photos from the Sunshine State
to make you long for spring and summer in your neck of the woods!!

love all of these, the pelican is my favorite of all birds. i love the awkward and almost ugly, cute cute cute looks of them and feel the same wanting to pet them. these shots are great, love the green reflections and each feather is showing. the pelicans with yellow heads are juveniles, they turn brown when they are older. so lots of babies out there. the blue eyed Ibis are every where here, i saw about 20 of them picking in the grass in my neighbors yard day before yesterday. they walk around in yards in groups of 10 to 20. the juvenile Ibis is brown and turns white so this one is a grown up. they are opposite of the pelicans. cant wait to see more
The pelicans were very photogenic for you. My favorite was the one with its reflection. I believe the blue-eyed beauty is an ibis because of its curved beak. Thanks for more pics from your travels.
That first pelican had pink eyes! Lovely bird shots. Seems amazing that they co-exist with us but we often don't take the time to see them. So, thanks.
Beautiful creatures, aren't they? I love that soft little tuft on their heads. Your photos are just wonderful.
Texture - this is what I like the most in these pictures. I can almost count the feathers! Great!
I am constantly amazed at the detailed beauty in your photos. You are inspiring me to take much better photos myself. But I have a ways to go in my learning. But thanks for inspiring me to grow and learn.

I love birds, I need wings.
Pelicans are beautiful. Thanks for sharing Florida birds with me in snowy Manitoba.
Great shots.
Florida is home , so I long for a
touch of cold weather and all the
wonderful sightings that go with that.
I love the green reflection of the pelican. It looks like a painting. You were sure busy in FLA taking beautiful photos!
Just caught up on your Florida pictures, Joan. I am enjoying them so much.. You take awesome pictures...
We had a wonderful trip to Georgia to celebrate George's birthday.. Saw some beautiful waterfalls --even though it rained. We got drenched but it was worth it... ha
Hugs,
Betsy
I love these birds! I always anticipate your Florida trips with excitement because I know you'll be showing us these wonderful pictures.
Joan, These are just spectacular shots...really...the reflections are gorgeous and the blue eyes; ahhhh, so pretty! I love the orange beak as well...You have such a keen eye! and I tend to agree; NO, the pelicans nor the seagulls would NOT like Michigan weather...
I like seeing all the birds..I was worried about them last summer..thanks for the photos:)
Wow, Joan those are stunning shots of the pelicans. I think they are probably my favorite of all the sea birds. You are really making me miss the coast.
Those are gorgeous pelicans! Thanks for sharing your photos of them. People always associate Florida with beaches and sunshine, which is true, but they forget to realise that we also have a lot of beautiful nature and wildlife here as well.
