One of the pristine places on Lake Superior is close to a little town in the U.P.
called Aura, Michigan.
It is called Point Abbaye.
We had a very unusual week of very hot October temperatures and happened to have company
with us for five days.
We immediately thought of taking them there, because we knew the autumn leaves were still up and the rocks and scenary would be delightful there.
Today, I have some pictures to share with you of our trip to this lake wonderland.
The rocks on the shore here are volcanic looking. Rugged and full of lichen and sharp design:
The shale under the water are amazing shades of greens, oranges and yellows too.
As an added bonus, you can look out and see the Huron Islands in the distance:
The islands look close enough to swim to, but believe me, they are not!:
There is supposed to be a lighthouse on one of the Huron Islands, and someday I am going to find someone with a "seaworthy" boat to take me there to take pictures. See this LINK.
To think that Mother Nature painted all these rocks on Lake Superior. They are amazing!:
We were incredibly lucky. The day we were there it was sunny, warm, colorful
and best of all? =
NO ONE else was there.
No one.
We had the solitude of the crashing waves and natural beauty all to ourselves.
It was heaven.
Come visit me, I will take you there.....

Thank you for sharing your pictures with us, what an amazing lake...hard to call it a lake, it looks more like the ocean.
i am afraid i will have to content myself with our trip together today. so much beauty in those rocks and stones. the weather is upside down, you are warm we are cold. our normal temps for Oct are lows in 70's and highs of 87 and up. we have been at 52 and 54 for 4 days now. yesterday our high was 72 and this am 52. what's up with the weather??
incredibly beautiful! stunning.
I'm sorry I missed it on our trip up there a few years ago! Looks like it goes on my list for the next time!!
Upper Michigan looks suspiciously like the Minnesota side of the North shore. Always beautiful.
Gorgeous pictures. The rocks and the trees look painted. How lucky to have the place to yourselves. You really have an eye for amazing shots! :)
thanks for following my invitation! :)
Stunningly beautiful scenery. You have captured it well.
neat...would not mind sitting on the rocks listening to the water...
Each scene is gorgeous. We have been given such a beautiful world to enjoy.
the lakes are indeed beautiful and peaceful.
You were so lucky to have such a beautiful place all to yourselves. The colors in the water and the changing leaves on shore are both very beautiful.
I know the Upper Peninsula is an awesome place. Hope to visit this place next year ^_^
