I saw the funniest interaction
with a Mama Robin and her baby
a few weeks ago.
First of all.....
is there anything MORE adorable
than a baby robin, with its feathers all messy???
So, here is how it went down!:
Here is Junior on the left and Mama on the right:
Junior was checking out the whole idea of the idea of flight. (Or was it FRIGHT?):
"It looks pretty FAR down there.....I am not so sure about this flight thing...":
"And it looks even FURTHER down from THIS side!!":
"YIKES!!!!":
"I am NOT doing it...and you can't make me!":
"Ummmm....Mama??? Where are you Mama? How am I going to get DOWN from here??":
"Waaaaaaa! I want my MOMMY!!!!":
Junior: "I am SO ashamed!!":
Mama to Daddy (on top branch): "WHAT am I going to DO with him? I tell ya'...he definitely takes after YOUR side of the family!!!"
(Junior DID eventually fly down from the branch....
a little crooked and unsure, but he DID fly)....
and I tried not to giggle TOO much...................

that baby is a mess, isn't he? :)
Absolutely adorable and your captions are PERFECT!! :D
Did he fall into some water .. what a mess .. and I think this post is charming!
How lucky to be witness to this! I've never seen a bird flying for it's first time, but I DID have a baby swallow light on my head when i was sitting on the deck. It scared me to pieces! I didn't know what was on my head so the first thing I did was swat at whatever it was...and I swatted off a little tree swallow! It sat there stunned looking at me. I felt horrible but he was OK.
Awesome photos ! The Robin is one of my favorite birds, his song is a comfort to me as my mum may she (R.I.P) and I were always competeing in fun as to who will see or hear the first Robin of spring did that since I was a kid ! Have a wonderful Sunday !
That "yikes" shot is fabulous!
So funny. How wonderful to see and photograph this.
he is a bit of a hot mess, but adorable!! but yay for him!!!
Young birds are a trip to watch. I love it when they sit for a feeding. Their feathers vibrate violently, as if they might not get fed. LOL
A great series of shots and hilarious text. He's so scruffy just as well his mother loves him.
I loved the narration as much as I loved the photos!
I loved the narration as much as I loved the photos!
I'll be darned. I learned something new. I didn't know the daddy robins didn't have a red breast! Then is that baby a very messy female? LOL! This was just charming! There's nothing like seeing a bird fly for the first time...or should I say floppy glide--hehe! ;)
Haha! Too cute!
Oh my gosh, that is just too cute. I loved your commentary Joan.
Adorable and fantastic pictures.
Your robins are different to ours. Mommy and Daddy look the same (red chest) and the babies look like Daddy (in the picture).
I am impressed you must have so much patience to get these great bird shots you share here.
love your narration,it's perfect
Too cute. I've been seeing this sort of thing all summer long.. without the adorable dialogue of course. Nicely done.
Ha! That one photo makes the baby look like he was crinkled into a feather ball.
I love it when the follow the parent around on the ground ans squawk to be fed while they are following. Sometimes they seem bigger than the parent as they have fluffier feathers. You got a great capture.
I love your interpretations of the photos! That little baby sure looks bedraggled!
That baby is so darn cute!
Nice pics...
