There is one wood's road
that we like to travel during all the seasons,
because no matter when we drive it,
we find pretty things
to photograph.
Part of the reason is because there are rocky
cliffs and narrow passageways
which are always beautiful.
On this day,
we found cliffs of icicles....
Even between tiny cliff cracks!:
Here is a bigger picture of it:
Everywhere we drove,
there were
ICE FALLS:
Some were in little
nicks and crannies:
But gorgeous,
nevertheless:
Rugged
and
cold
and
lovely:
Like monster teeth!:
Even in the frozen tundra,
Nature provides
a
wonderful show....
You just have to pay attention....

i want to drive this road, but not when there is ice, i would like to see it when the ice melts. but i love the photos of all the ice, the last time i saw ice like this was the winter of 1959. beautiful to look at, thanks for the trip
Beautiful!!
Yes, beautiful pictures indeed. Ice seems to have become the seasonal image this year - on both sides of the Atlantic.
hmmm, had to go put my shawl on! It's a balmy 29 degrees here but warm in the office til I started perusing your photos!!! Lovely shots, to be sure, but bone chilling all the same.
hugs
Sandi
I love ice falls too! You really captured some great pictures!
So cool! Our random super snowfall was followed just a few days later by a solid downpour, so our snow and ice didn't last very long... now we're back to clear skies and driveable roads :)
Those are great ice shots on the rocks. Whoops, that sounds like a drink!
these are really cool...we have an old train tunnel nearby that sprouts these every winter...
Love how you saw this, very creative :O)
That is one type of beauty that I will never experience - at least here in Malta.
Amazing photos! I saw so many frozen waterfalls on a recent drive through Wales, but could never find a good spot to stop and get a photo, much to my disappointment!
Very similar sights over this side of the pond, great captures.
Your photos really capture the feel of frigid weather. I have been away, but am glad to be back viewing your wonderful photos, Joan!
simply stunning.
Excellent! I've taken shots like this in the Precambrian Shield. Lovely.
Well, of course, here in the San Francisco area, we get no spectacular scenery like your icy displays - not that we don't have spectacular scenery of our own. It's nice that you get such a reward for the cold weather conditions about which people often grumble so much!
Those creations of Nature are beautiful.
Nature always provides a show especially in the frozen Tundra. Great icy shots, all those little frozen falls are beautiful.
Beautiful photos Joan.
I love your blog!
Neat winter pics, as usual!!!
