This is the final installment of a three part series on photographs I took at the shores of Lake Superior about a week ago.
I love open water and ice formations, especially on Lake Superior.
But, in case you are bored with the last two blogposts before this one and want a short intermission first, well....
here you go:
This little guy was on the tree by my house before we left to go treasure hunting for photos on Lake Superior:
And I caught him in a blurry escape, too:
One more shot of him before we go to look at Lake Superior, then, OK?
He got bored about me and was looking out at our lake when we left.

Back to Lake Superior.
I had to take many shots of the red Coast Guard station because it is just so darn nice:
Back to the lake.
It was quiet out there.
But I did see others pulling up to the parking lot and getting out and snapping photos of this little island that day too:
But no one was really noticing the beauty of the surrounding ice.
Silly people.
You gotta look right under your feet!:
I can see how they got distracted, because that Coast Guard station is right next to where you can park your car and go down a tiny path:
That's okay.
I had a date with these ice lava fingers:
Followed by the snowy shores:
And we had a good time together.
It's okay.
My husband knows all about it.
And he is okay with it.
That's how we roll.....

Thanks for those beautiful Lake Superior photos the past few days. They certainly are gorgeous. I dontt think I have ever been in the UP in the wintertime. That should probably change sometime soon!

Oh Joan, I never get tired of your photos---any of them.. Going to the Lake Superior area has to be such joy during Winter...
That 5th picture from the bottom has some fabulous blue colors in it. WOW!!!!

I saw all of photos at Lake Superior and was quite impressed! Absolutely stunning at the amount of ice. Brrrrr.... glad to see them on the 'puter as to being there though, it really does look chilly but gosh, what a really pretty area though!!
The red coast guard building reminds me of the smaller lighthouse that sits across the lake at Two Harbors. I am thinking that is painted red on red brick too. I never see the Lake in the winter so thanks for doing the job for me, getting out and shooting it all. I like your little woodpecker.

Jeanette: It can be brutal up here in the winter, but beautiful too! I like it much more now that I am retired, because when it is really cold and windy I stay inside and when it is gorgeous and sunny I go out a lot.

I thought I was accused of being too silly.....
The Coast Guard station is so pretty sitting on the snow cover hill. I'm imagining what the view must be like from up there. Great shots of the lake.

All excellent pictures. You have the kind of scenery I wish I had here. I'm too used to living near the city to be away from it, but I'd love to have things like that up close. I'm glad I can see at least small imitations of what you have.
Everything looks really beautiful especially the photos with the Coastguard station.
Ratty: ah, but you can always take a TRIP up here, right? You would love to shoot the animals and scenery with your camera and keep very entertained here!
