This fall, we were able to take a trip up to Eagle Harbor, Michigan
where there is marvelous
Lake Superior scenary along with a pretty sweet lighthouse.
You can park your car and walk right next to the lighthouse:
Do you see the "E.H." carved into the glass on the top?

Right out from the lighthouse were these little rock islands....I loved that single tree growing out of one of the rock islands. I wondered how many bad icy storms and blizzards it has wintered through the years....
And then there was this gnarly tree on another spot.
It reminded me of a dwarfed Bonsai tree!:
I loved that tree!:
If you make it to the U.P., make sure you put the little quaint community of Eagle Harbor
on your checklist!

My years in Maine made me a light house lover. This one's a beauty.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in a coastal town in Florida and saw many, many lighthouses next to the ocean all up and down the coast. When we went back to the Midwest I was astounded to see lighthouses along the shores of the Great Lakes and in Texas there are lighthouses frequently along the banks of the Colorado River as it spills into the big resevoirs like Lake Travis! Who knew??!

ReplyDeleteAwesome photos. The light house we have in a small town 6 minuets away off of lake Erie called Port Burwell has a light house thats the oldest wooden light house in Canada ! They are intersting and intreaging buildings. Have a wonderful evening.
