we headed out for our usual: "what-can-we-find-in-the-woods-that-is-interesting-to-photograph?" trip.
After an uneventful first few hours,
we turned onto a road, went about 1/2 mile and
THIS
stepped out in front of us!:
(The lighting was the absolute worst for shooting him with my camera, but I wasn't ABOUT to take the time to try and adjust my camera settings when we saw him!)
Although I wasn't thrilled about the lighting conditions to get these shots, we were thrilled to see
that he was a BULL:
He seemed unconcerned that we were there. He just sauntered into the woods
and began eating some branch buds:
I was cursing my "auto" setting on my camera because it wanted to focus
on all the branches in front of him (between me and him)
but I finally got the shot!:
Look at that HUMP! I bet his mother told him to sit up straight a million times when he was a mere baby moose. Obviously, he didn't listen!:
He came back out on the road and then went back in the woods....
I wasn't this close to take the shot, it is the wonder of the zoom lens.
Of course, it is a bit blurry because of that:
Ummmm....he saw ME....(gulp!):
But when our eyes met, it was INSTANT love.
And then turned to go back in the woods again (whew!):
(Do you see the hair under his chinee, chin-chin? I think it is TOTALLY HOT!)
To ME? They are gorgeous creatures!!:
Bullwinkle and I have a date to meet again. I saw when our eyes met.
He's supposed to call me.
But you know how male bulls are.
I may never hear from him again.
(Sigh)
But I will think of him.
Often.
With longing.
My husband even knows.
And?
He encourages this type of thing.
He says if Bullwinkle and I get together again,
he will offer to escort me
to our date.
And maybe even watch.
What a guy!
No wonder I love him!!
Wow, he is one handsome fellow alright. I have just such love affairs with the white tailed deer, such beautiful creatures that it's no wonder we all loved Bambi! I long to see a moose, send him our way please?

truly a magnificent animal...that last shot too...love how you framed it....
ReplyDeleteLUCKY YOU!!!! These are some nice shots! And what a dream date you will have, but I have one question...you mentioned something about a male bull....aren't all males bulls??!! I don't know what they'd call a neutered bull moose...Glad you had such a GREAT day! And your photos don't look blurry to me at all.
ReplyDeleteHe's adorable and such a hunk! You're a lucky gal; I hope he lives up to his end of the bargain and visits you again. He must know you'd be devastated otherwise. :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. Such wonderful creatures and powerful ! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteIs this a new Bullwinkle or the one who saw before?
ReplyDeleteGreat shots!
Ah, a man who likes to watch! hmmm.
ReplyDeleteSeriously...great shots of the moose!
Wonderful post. Having lived in Alaska let me tell you that if their ears lie back - BEWARE!
ReplyDeleteWe had a cow and calf homestead in our yard for several months while living WAY up North. I have several pictures - may have to post some of them.
'hugs from afar'

The 3rd from the last one is my fav--where he is looking at you with those loving, longing eyes....

Wonderful! He was looking for you, most certainly!!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I loved this post! Those pics are fantastic! And you have a VERY understanding hubby. ; )
ReplyDeleteHe does seem to be giving you the eye in the very last photo, Joan! The Instant Love photo is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteYou might want to show these pictures to some wildlife expert. I have never seen antlers like this . They are not typical moose antlers. Curious??
ReplyDeleteHe is a great Bullwinkle. I bet it is so much fun to wander around and look for the photos that you are so good at snapping.
ReplyDeleteAmazing pictures of the great moose! You are sooo lucky to find him on the road!
