Things Were Happening in the Woods and on the Lake!

As late fall 2011 progressed, as usual in the U.P.
we'd have a mixture of autumn
and winter
and back to Autumn
before the real winter set in.

Here are some pictures of our first snowstorm
and of some of the things we saw
during that time of year.

The doves, wondering what happened to fall?:

I told this deer to go into hiding, and SOON. It was almost Nov. 15th
and in this neck of the woods, that means he'd be a target soon.

It got cold fast....and ice was close behind:

My poor garden frog....

My lake as it started freezing over...this is at the far west of our lake:

One of our first storms...the branches laden with snow:

Also at the far west end of our lake:

More winter photos are coming...
so stay tuned.
And if they aren't a reason to enjoy your present SPRING...and be grateful for our warmth this time
of  year, I don't know what IS.

Winter is gorgeous, but I do enjoy the re-birth of all our gardens and the warmth that Spring brings.

Winter is beautiful and we can really appreciate the shots when we are not personally cold. Great shots.

Gorgeous winter scapes! And you're right, we're really thankful for the warmer spring temps we have, even tho they aren't as warm as we might like.

Here's hoping it will warm up soon in your neck of the woods too!

My favourite photo is the one of the icicles. Reminds me of my childhood when I used to throw stones at the gutters to try and knock the icicles off. Thanks for the memory.

Did one of the frog's legs freeze off?? ;You and I must be on the same wave length. I posted a collage of Lake Superior shots on Yarns. The ice and catching the drip is very good!! As they all are!

Great pics, as always. The doves intrigued me, as I've always seen mourning doves at my mom's place near Lake Michigan, and we've had them one summer here, N MN. Once in 35 years, yet my friend has them at her house. I'm wondering what attracts them.
