Even though it snowed already, it has melted again....
So here are some woods' scenes that I have captured over the last couple of weeks for you.
A double waterfall:
This mushroom reminded me of a crocodile's snout!:
I had to crawl through a little bit of woods to get to this little hidden waterfalls.
But it was worth it:
This is the same waterfalls taken right where it spills over the edge of the rocks.
It had been raining all day, and when I got there, the sun broke out:
A cute little Purple Finch:
He decided to stop by our house for a snack:
And the Grosbeaks are coming through too.
I love the black, white and yellow of their backs:
Your fantastic weekend is full of colours. The Grosbeaks is especially beautiful.
ReplyDeleteoh, that yellow and black burd is magnificent. of course i am a sucker for the waterfalls too. ha, that croc got stuck through the tree. wonder if he was after captain hook? tock tock...
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful as usual, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou can feel the chill in the air just by looking at the photographs. Thanks for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteThe purple finch is amazing. I don't think I've ever seen one!
ReplyDeleteRainfield: I love the Grosbeaks too!
ReplyDeleteBrian: Yes, the crocodile is stuck in the tree. Arrrgh!
L.D.: Thanks, I will be out of photos, soon...until the snow comes again :-}
Alan: Yes, the chill is in the air for sure! Pretty soon, I will be putting more snow pictures on the blog!
Eva: Oh, they are such sweet little birds, Eva..they are tiny and so colorful!
You live in such a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the beauty.
What beautiful pictures! I love the waterfalls and those grosbeaks are really pretty. We don't get that variety here.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful pictures! Love the Grosbeaks...we get them every few years in flocks and I try to feed them all the good seed!!! So they come back to you well fed...
ReplyDeleteSandi

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the gorgeous pictures.
Hugs,
Betsy
All I can say is wow, you have such a talent, Thank you so much for sharing with us
ReplyDeleteMy Hubby also saysm wow!!!
The bird pictures are amazing and King Lake is so beautiful but all your pictures are wonderful. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteOne of these times you're going to have to do a whole series of pictures on the "ski-boys" for my Don, who misses them so much. Those Grosbeaks were his favorite at the winter feeders.
ReplyDeleteThe photo of the tree fungus "crocodile's snout" also reminds me of a huge mountain ledge.
ReplyDeleteI love the double waterfalls! Wow. Beautiful pictures once again.
ReplyDeleteAnytime I want to feel good, I come to your site because you publish the kind of beautiful photos of nature that really turn me on. ((sigh))
ReplyDeleteWaterfalls are my downfall!
Oh that purple finch is gorgeous.....retire all you like, but NOT from photography :)))
ReplyDeleteGrannyann: You are welcome! Thanks for coming every day to the blog and leaving such nice compliments!
ReplyDeleteCatherine: I love looking at others' blogs too when they show the birds, because we see varieties that aren't here. I just recently started birdwatching, and we really like it.
Sandi: Thanks for sending them back our way all healthy and plump. ha
Betsy: It would be great if you could come up for a visit. It is full of nature for you...falls, lakes, streams, Lake Superior...you would love it.
Sara: You are so encouraging for me to keep taking photos! thanks!
SouthernLady: I hope you have a good week, too. Thanks!
Sue: I will try and post some more photos of them for you and him..they don't stay around long in the winter here, so I will try and catch them again this week at the feeders for you! :-) I got your seeds yesterday...thanks so MUCH. Yours will be coming your way this week. My Hollyhocks didn't produce many seeds this fall, don't know why. The seed pods where kind of hard and immature when the stalks blew over.
Wanda: Yes, I think I can see that in the mushroom! They are such fun, aren't they? You can imagine all kinds of shapes in them!
Lesley: Thanks! Yes, it was nice to see that ledge with 2 falls!
Gaston: Waterfalls aren't such a bad downfall, are they? They do refresh one's spirit when you are there!
Always nice to take a little trip to the UP! ;-)
ReplyDeleteGod does create the best of everything and you are one of the best.
ReplyDeleteThat purple finch is beautiful. The colors of its feathers are just perfect. I am such a fan of wild birds. And of course the waterfalls are magnificent. But the finch! When I finish my comment I'm going back to look some more.
ReplyDeleteBraja: Did I tell you lately how wonderful all your comments are and that they make me motivated to keep up with my photography? Well, its true!
ReplyDeleteManiacal: Holy Wah! True enough! ha
Carol: That was about the sweetest comment I've ever gotten. You are such a cheerleader for me and my photography!
DJan: I will try and do a whole post of pictures of them and the grosbeaks too..seems like alot of my readers really liked both of them. Thanks!
I love all of the places you are able to explore and take pictures of. :)
ReplyDeleteAshley: Thanks..it has been so much fun doing so! I have fallen in love all over again with all the places I have lived near a great deal of my life!
ReplyDeleteI love all of the water. Waterfalls are always a welcome sight with me. Rigt before I read what you said about it, I was thinking that the mushroom looked just like a crocodile too.
ReplyDeleteRatty: Great minds think alike. ha
ReplyDeleteThe little finch is so cute, what an adorable face. The falls is so beautiful, the third photo is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteJudy
