Hi everyone!
Sorry I haven't posted much this week. We went out of the town for the weekend to visit the grandkids, so I prepublished some blog posts for you, but then I got back and got really busy.
We had some company the last few days, so today I decided I better get busy and at least post a few blogposts for you before the weekend comes, as we have plans for then, too.
My regular Followers/readers will remember that last spring I took a perennial gardening class from the Master Gardener at Carp River Gardens, and that I posted some pictures of his beautiful spring garden.
I didn't get back out there to take summer flower pictures, but I did go out yesterday to visit his autumn garden. As expected, it was spectacular and full of fall blooms. Since I am new at this, I don't know the names of all the flowers that I took photos of, but have them below for your enjoyment. He had quite a variety of Zinnias, roses, dahlias, bee balm and cosmos still blooming in his garden. We have had a very cold summer here this summer, so he mentioned that some flowers that are blooming now are late due to this.
I took so many pictures, that I will group them into two blogposts for you, the first one being this one.
If you have a blog and haven't gotten comments from me, it is because I haven't had a chance to catch up on my reading over the last 5 days...but I will stop by your blogs soon to catch up with you.
And Tatyana, I received your flower seeds yesterday..thanks SOOOO much!
On to the flower show!!:
This trellis is on your left as soon as you enter the gardens.
It has clematis and roses on it:
This bright pink really jumps out at you, especially this time of year:
I loved this white lily with the pink freckles!:
This grouping was so bright in the sun:
He said the hummingbirds and butterflies loved this red bee balm, but when we were there, the bees liked them more!:
I loved how the sun was striking this one:
Nice to see this white dahlia amongst the colored flowers:
I love Tiger Lilies!:
Dark pink Foxglove!:
I loved how the edgesof these look like they were dipped in orange:
Hope you enjoyed the flower show!
I will post the second set of flower photographs
during my next posting.
Hope everyone is having a great week!
I have missed reading everyone else's blogs every day
during this busy time.
But, I will be back to routine before we know it.
Here, we are having wonderful warm autumn weather,
so we are outside going here and there and trying
to take in as much as we can of the wonderful outdoors.
Your flower photos are soooo beautiful!! great job!
ReplyDeleteSuperb pictures as always. How do you get them to pose so well?
ReplyDeleteI love that trellis. When I was in Turkey the last time we went to a resort on the Med and they had the most beautiful trellis' with gorgeous flowers. We ate outside under them and it was so neat. Your flower pics were so pretty.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely, especially the tiger lily, why it is not called leopard lily?
ReplyDeleteYow! The bright pink of the second picture did just jump out at me. All these flowers are just lovely, and I look forward to the next ones. Having just recently joined your blog, I didn't know about the garden class. But he certainly knows how to grow flowers, and you sure know how to capture them for us!
ReplyDeletelovely flowers.Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteHow I missed you my friend, so happy you are home. I am glad you had time with your grandchildren, now that is more important than blogging and more fun I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteWhat glorious flowers you were able to photograph Joan, they are so pretty and you did them justice with your camera. Can you imagine what his garden would of looked like in full summer if it's this beautiful now.....looking foward to your next blog and more beautiful floral pictures..welcome back.....:-) Hugs
Loved the dew drops in the second pic...
ReplyDeleteMy Travelogue
BEEE-UUU-TEEEE FUL!!! I am surprised there weren't hummingbirds all around you!!
ReplyDeleteWOW, what beautiful flowers. I loved the dahlias! And the zinnias....probably cuz the bunnies ate all of mine. Wonder how they keep the "pests" out.
ReplyDeleteMan I have just been taking pix of spiders lately, I need to go on a walk through some flowers, but until then these will satiate me just fine! :) Glad you had a nice break and welcome back!
ReplyDeleteEva: Thanks! I love taking photos of gardens and flowers.
ReplyDeleteFran: They behaved well :-} . Luckily there was very little wind that day.
Grannyann: Thanks. I love trellises too. This guy made his own out of bent tree branches. He also made waterfalls all over his property. I took a picture of one of them and it will be in my next post.
JJ: Thanks!
Rainfield: Good point! It should be called a Leopard lily!
DJan: Thanks! When I retired I started flower gardening for the first time. When I got into photography it was the perfect blend, because then I could take photos of my own flowers too. I am learning about both "arts" at the same time.
Lotusleaf: You too! and thanks!
Bernie: Hopefully I can get back to his garden next summer and take some summer photos of his garden too for the blog. It is nice to be back. Our Sept. will be busy, but I hope to get in some more blog posts and visit other blogs too. I miss it! The grandkids visit was wonderful...they are growing so fast. I got as many hugs as I could!
Mitr: Thanks! I loved taking all of those flower photos.
Cathy: Me too! He said they were all around the gardens, but we must have scared them off as we went from section to section.
Sue: He had all kinds of natural "formulas" to keep the pests out and the deer...as his garden is out in a wooded section. He is amazing and has done this for over 20 years.
Insanity: Thanks! August and Sept. are always busy for us, so the next few weeks will be too...but I hope to try and continue blogging thru it and I need to get caught up on reading everyone else's blogs yet, too!
Gorgeous...beautiful...awesome...
ReplyDeleteyou get the picture. Now I have to try and kill this pesky monquito that's biting me everywhere.
Loree: Thanks so much! Wow, you have mosquitos this late in the summer? Thank goodness, ours are almost all gone!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flower photos Joan especially the Bee Balm...I want that trellis!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW! What a fantastic job. Every flower is beautiful. The Bee Balm, the Tiger Lily...I liked all of them. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteRazor sharp, crisp and cristal clear!! WOW!
ReplyDeleteThat trellis brings back fond memories. I helped my grandpa build one like that in his backyard when I was a kid. He covered it with grapevines.
ReplyDeleteWanda: He had both red and purple bee balm in huge patches, humming with bees! Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteJeannine: You are welcome. The pictures couldn't do the gardens justice though..it is overwhelmingly gorgeous.
Jientje: You should see them in person..just incredible!
Ratty: Then you can come to the U.P. and build one for my garden, then? You have experience, after all!
Wowza! Look at those close-up's of the flowers.
ReplyDeleteAshley: Love the macro feature of my camera...before I had it, I didn't see the fine details of a flower up close and personal. Now, even the "weeds" look beautiful!
