This and That: Part One

I have been taking miscellaneous flower and woods photographs over the last few weeks, because here in the north, we have a lot in bloom at once and then autumn hits and until the leaves get in full color, we have a lapse of good nature or flower pictures to be had.

So, for the next few posts, I will be posting all of my photos of the flowers or interesting wildflowers I have seen in bloom over the last few weeks for you.

First, here is a photo of the walkway up to my front door. I posted this same shot in the spring when my 200+ tulips were in bloom in the same spot. Now, it is full of my lilies:

I love this splash of yellow lilies that are there too:

We saw an old farm a few weeks past where there was some land for sale. Way in the back of the property was an old-fashioned rose bush buzzing with bees:

Along the woods roads there are many of these tiny purple flowers in bloom. They look like minature tiny asters. Does anyone know their name?:

I love all colors of lilies. Can you tell?:

These little yellow flowers are all over the sides of the roads up here too.
Does anyone know the name of these wildflowers?:

In our back yard, these tiny, tiny flowers grow on vines right amongst the grass. They look like wild Morning Glories. Am I right? Does anyone out there know what they are called?:

You know how I love my tree mushrooms! Well, this one is growing on the side of a tree in our yard:

A not-so-ordinary regular field lily, up close and personal:

Hope you enjoyed this collection today!
I will be posting Part 2 and Part 3 over the next few posts!

  1. I love it all. The walkway is so nice. It is fun to have it all filled in with plants like that. The aster like plant was a weed in southern Iowa when I was a kid and I haven't a clue for the name but it grew readily everywhere. It always seemed like a real flower to me. Your seasons are definitely a few weeks behind us, but I remember visiting the Upper Peninsula and it is such a beautiful place to live.

Brian: Yes, I love that lilies come in such beautiful colors...I am waiting for my Stargazer lily to bloom..it is shocking pink and white!

Carol: That is how I feel...it doesn't matter what their name is or if they are a wildflower or hybrid. I love them all!

  8. I don't know what the tiny purple flowers are, but I have a lot of pictures of the same. I like the color. I do know the little yellow flowers though. The back of one of my nature parks is covered with them. They are called birdfoot trefoil.

  11. Hey Great Photos! it is always fun for me to see what is in bloom over there in Michigan.
Your little purple flower if indeed the blooms are small..like 3/4 inch ..is probably Common Fleabane...that is my best guess. The Yellow one is Birdsfoot Trefoil and the one that looks like a Morning Glory is Field Bindweed..( It is a fairly obnoxious little plant..farmers hate it..but the flower is pretty! :)

  12. I thought your wild morning glory might be bindweed, but I am not sure the leaves match.

p.s. Your Comments page comes up as a small, unexpandable box when viewed with Firefox. I have seen this with some other blogspot blogs, some come up as full pages, but some the small ones so its necessary to sideways scroll to read a post.

  13. I love the picture of the bee. It looks furry and soft - such an irony, considering their sting!

  14. Your lillies are glorious. Right now it's too hot for anything to flower.

  15. Ratty: Thanks..read the other comments, someone gave names of a few of the others. You are correct on the birdfoot trefoil. What a weird name for it!!!

Joycee: "didn't even have to put my shoes on"...hahahahaaaaa....

Teresa: You are welcome...there are more to come!

Karen: So sorry you are having trouble with the comments...I had to switch to this one because the others were having trouble. I don't know any other choices to do...I will look into it. Bindweed is correct, according to another commenter. Thanks!

Lynn: Yes, I thought so too about the bee...I took several photos and he looks fuzzy in them all!

Far Side: I can always count on you to know ALL the names of any flower I do not know...thanks so much!

Loree: Thanks so much. Yes, even though we are behind everyone, the things in bloom are greatly decreased here. Sigh. That can only mean that summer is over half over.

  19. You must have the most beautiful yard, the lilies are amazing.

No matter what the little wildflowers are called they are still so lovely.

  20. Wanda: We love walking through them too. They are taller than me now, which makes it like walking through the jungle to reach our door. ha

Brit: Thanks! What a great description to say you almost feel the petals. (See me blushing?)

Joanna: When we moved in, I always pictured it that way, so I am so happy now that I was able to do it.

SquirrelQueen: I have flowers splattered all over my yard in little spots of gardens...but you should see a few of my neighbors yards..they make mine pale in comparison. I hope to get their permission soon to go and get some shots of their flowers and yards..they are just gorgeous!
