In the summer, certain flowers really stand out
as true favorites of mine.
Columbines rate way high on this list.
So today I am sharing some photos
of them with you.
I love the different colors of Columbines...and that they can face UP or face down:
And especially their "tendrils"....like these that are BEHIND its face:
Facing the sun:
Just a hint of lavendar on this one:
Even their centers are wonderful:
Some have double the petals!:
They grow so easily from seeds, so if you haven't tried them in your garden,
plant some next spring...(you can throw the seeds in your garden now and they will come up in the spring and keep seeding themselves year after year).

yes columbines are amazing, but i wonder if they will grow and flower here in our tropics. Whenever i look at your photos, i always think "how did you do that", they are always my envy! I hope to have your lenses too, haha!

ReplyDeleteLove columbine .. Riverside Park (my front yard if NYer could have a front yard .. and of course I share it with everyone west of Central Park which could be my back yard)had plantings of columbines surrounding a memorial plaque for Holocaust survivors

ReplyDeleteThe Columbine is one of my favourite flowers. Until this year I had plenty in the garden, I suspect hubs has been pulling them up. So now I have to start over again.

ReplyDeleteIn England these are also called 'Grannies' bonnets'. Aren't they gorgeous and you've got that macro lens down to a fine art too. Congratulations, the pictures are wonderful.

ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful shots of beautiful flowers. I love the lighting in them. I've only seen the bluish/purple colored columbine. One day it showed up in my yard (when I had a home). It was right after the Columbine shooting. The flower brought a smile to my face after that horrific shooting.

ReplyDeleteI used to have some in pots in my patio garden a couple of years ago, but they've disappeared. They're so delicate and fragile, real beauties to photograph and you did a great job!

ReplyDeleteYOU sure know your way around the camera! BUT you have to have a good subject and these flowers make a perfect shoot. The dept of field is challenging but you mastered it to capture all aspects of these amazing flowers. Thank you for posting what the normal eye can not see.
