Wood Ducks in Florida!

We have wood ducks in upper Michigan, but they are very hard to photograph because they are in the wild
and are very skiddish and fly when they see humans.

So, when we went to Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park in Florida in February
I was thrilled to see they had some that weren't as shy that I could photograph.

I am convinced that when The Creator made ducks, he/she decided to use all the colors
of the rainbow to make this most colorful one!:

"So, crazy photo-taking lady, are you DONE YET??":

"See ya'!":
 I thanked them!
I love, love, love those ducks and was thrilled they let me photograph them.

  7. Aren't they amazing creatures? We have a solitary male wood duck that comes around here. He seems to have paired up with a female mallard. Your photos are wonderful.

  11. That's the same reason all my photos of these guys are made at our local aviary, no way I can get this close in the wild.

Great shots Joan, you captured the colors beautifully. They are one of the most colorful ducks I have ever seen.

  12. Some of these photos have picked up awesome colors from the reflections on the water. Really goes well with a very flashy bird!
