Out in the Woods and in the Garden!

I have taken several photos in the woods and in my garden this summer.

So, today, I am sharing some of them with you.

My peach poppies only bloom for about a week or so, but I love seeing them.
Once it rains, they fall over and they are done, so I always hope we don't get any wind or rain the week they bloom:

I am not sure if these are part of the stems of the poppy,
or
if it is two slug bugs.
I wasn't about to touch them to find out. LOL
So I just took photos of it instead!:

We went to a place called Fummee Falls and this was the steps we had to climb to see the falls:
(My calves and thighs said thank you very much!)

A white and purple Iris in my garden:

Fummee Falls...worth the climb!:

A spooky picture
of
a turkey vulture on a barren tree:

Sweet little doves:

A purple and striped striated Iris...it smells like grapejuice!:

More photos to come (in future blogposts)
of our lovely summer in the U.P. of Michigan!

  4. Gorgeous poppy. I can see why you like it so much.
The steps descending look like they are tolerable but I bet there is not escalator to return topside, huh. Yikes. The purple and white iris looks regal.

  5. Love the flowers, but you can keep those steps.
I try to avoid them as much as possible.

  11. I used to have those poppies and I don't ever recall them having anything like that on the top! When I transplanted mine I lost them. They never came back the following Spring.

Beautiful flower photos! A good workout is always good for the thighs ; )

  13. Wonderful photos. I do have a question on what you called the purple iris that smells like grapejuice....on my end it is a brilliant blue so my question is, is it really purple? I'm going to check it on my laptop too...I just got this monitor and still trying to fine tune it. Your greens are brilliant so I don't know if it is on my end or not. Thanks!

  23. Awesome photos!! I don't think those are slugs..LOL That must have been tiring to walk up all those stairs..Yikes! But I agree. What a beautiful sight to see. Those flowers are beautiful. can't believe that one smells like grape juice. How neat! And that turkey vulture shot would make a good Halloween pic.

  25. Diane: Thanks!

New England: Poppies can be so fickle! When they DO bloom, if it rains or you get wind, they flop right down...but they are SO pretty when they do bloom and stay upright.

Cathy: It is a blueish purple..color is hard to describe, but on my monitor is matches how it is in person...same with the greens with all this rain. ha

    Eva: Thanks!

Joannie: Thanks, honey! I love to put spooky on whenever I can. ha

Gaston: It is a unique shade of salmon in person.

    James:thanks so much!

Betsy: Thanks! I am glad to see you better and outside too!

Alan: we are very blessed...and by your pictures and travels, you are too!

Loree: Yes, they were...but my thighs complained. ha

Far Side: thanks..I love that flower and every year I think it isn't going to bloom and it surprises me and does.

Pat: yes, and it coos and coos when it is alone too, like a sound of mourning.

Ginnymo: you are right...I think it was the leaves of the side of the plant when it bloomed, but it reminded me of bugs. ha

    Ann: thanks so much
