A Snow Bird. We get a ton of these here that stay all winter. But they are hard to capture on film, they are very jumpy birds that fly every few seconds!:

ReplyDeleteSue: Yes, during spring, summer and fall I get out in the woods as much as possible, because in the winter I don't snowmobile or ski, so I am inside a lot then. I hope to get out more this winter and capture some winter scenes.
Eva:Thanks...I am quite enamored with tree mushrooms, for some reason.
Vicki: I passed up almost ALL of the things I photograph now (before). Ever since I got into photography, I think so differently about texture and details of the ordinary things. I appreciate nature so much more now.
Rainfield:Before I got into photography, I was quite an "inside and keep warm" girl in the winter. Now, I look forward to bundling up and getting out in the snow and ice and capturing some winter scenes for everyone. Wish me luck! ha

You can find the strangest mushrooms. Are you sure there have not been any UFOs landing in the woods lately?

A beautiful series of photos, I love the mushrooms especially those red ones. The mushroom tree is amazing, I just not seeing that many here but maybe it's our climate.

ReplyDeleteThe tree mushrooms are fantastic. I had seen them on my hike in a rainforest a couple of months ago, but they were reddish.

Bernie: Glad you liked them. I have a lot of odds and ends photos left that really didn't have much of a theme, but I didn't post them yet from the autumn photos I have taken..so there will be more.
Betsy: thanks. I think that one was visited by Pileated woodpeckers, one of my favorite birds! They are on my "wish list" for bird pictures, yet.
Sandi: I was wishing I had a better zoom lens when I saw those ducks, because they were way near the other shore and they were Merganser ducks, some of my favorite ducks to photograph!
SquirrelQueen: I think that tree was pounded by my favorite: a pileated woodpecker. I just love those birds and hope to capture one on camera someday. We have the most amazing collection of tree mushrooms here, too...we see a zillion different kinds and I like them all.
Ratty: thanks! I am pretty sure the ducks were Mergansers. Do you have many of that type where you live?
Lotusleaf: Thanks! We have many, many different kinds of tree mushrooms here...all colors and shapes...I never run out of a desire to photograph them because I like them so much on the trees.
Southern Lady: Thanks so much! I have some other pictures from last month that didn't fit any of my other "themes" of places we visited that I will be posting too. Whenever we see something pretty or that I find artistic in the woods, I snap a photo of it. ha

ReplyDeleteI have said this before, but you have such a great sense of design in your photo compositions. That reflection lake is wonderful. You will be making beautiful snow pictures some of these days.
ReplyDeleteNope, I only have mallards around here. Your mergansers are the only ones I've ever seen. I'd love to be able to see some of these myself though.

Ratty: Mallards are pretty neat too, but I would miss seeing the many different kinds of water birds we have here. But all of ours fly south and we don't get them back until spring!
