Here is Part Two, which pretty much just has more photos of this wonderful place. I had to post more pictures because it was just too beautiful to only devote one post to it.
Enjoy!
Here is a view of the lighthouse from the beach:
I just couldn't stop photographing this huge chunk of driftwood that was on the beach.
From all angles!:
And this "cherry on the top" roof of the lighthouse was wonderful:
Here is another shot of the lake over bunches and bunches of that wonderful driftwood:
I would hate to have to clean these windows, but I bet it IS somebody's job to do them!:
A great spot to hang out on the beach!:
One more full view of the lighthouse!:
And the crashing waves:
O.K.
Just ONE more shot of the top of the lighthouse! (since you begged):
And everyone should have a window view like this one:
If you come to the U.P.:
1. You better let me know, because I want to meet you!
2. And you will want to schedule a trip there.
3. Take your camera along!
you really should work for the board of tourism...you could make money off all the visitors from your amazing pictures...
ReplyDeleteBeach... Driftwood... I want back to summer!
ReplyDeleteOh my friend post as many of these beautiful pictures as you can as often as you can. They are to be enjoyed by all of us thanks to you. Have a wonderful weekend, love you......:-) Hugs
ReplyDeleteI love all the driftwood, so many different shapes. I would have been very tempted to take a few pieces also except for the sign. Beautiful photos of the beach.
ReplyDeleteYep, I would hate to wash those windows! Did you notice how tiny those "steps" appear that take you to the top of the lighthouse??? I would have a MAJOR depth perception issue!!!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it amaze you how that driftwood just comes ashore? I always wonder where it started from and how long it had been in the water before coming ashore.
Wow! What views! I haven't been up there in so long. We wanted to visit there last weekend but the weather was so dreadful.
ReplyDeleteBTW, our camp is off of Cty Road 500 as part of the Country Trail. I've been up to Pike Lake and Rainbow Lodge but missed Culhane Lake. I see a future visit there!
Great photos again! That lighthouse is so pretty but I like the driftwood and all the different shapes a lot. What a great place to visit. I would not want to leave there. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteBrian: I will have you write the letters of recommendation and give you the addresses of our Chambers of Commerce and we will go from there!:-}
ReplyDeleteTatyana: I do too...but up here, autumn is so beautiful too, that I wouldn't trade it. And I have seen some breathtaking views in the dead of winter up here. I have to toughen up and try going outside more this winter to take photos!
Bernie: Thanks, honey! I will keep taking as many nature photos as I can for me and you!
SquirrelQueen: Me too! There isn't a piece of driftwood that I don't like. ha
Cathy: Yes! I did see those outside steps at the top and it made me dizzy just to think of them. ha Some of that driftwood probably came from Canada!
DVM's Wife: Wow, we drove all OVER Co. Rd. 500 (trying to find the back road that would connect us to get to Whitefish Point) so we probably drove very close to your cabin. Small world, huh? We saw signs to both Pike Lake and Rainbow Lodge, too. We will have to plan another trip there when you are up and go exploring again and meet you.
Judy: We didn't want to leave there either...but it was pretty chilly the day we were there, so that helped move us along. I definitely want to return there when it is warmer next summer to spend some more time.
One of the strange things about your pictures is that I can smell the water and feel the sand when I look at them. Now that's some great pictures!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place, and beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful red roof. The red is such a nice color. Your scuptural shots are great. You should create a book of lighthouses with all your photos.
ReplyDeleteIt's really pretty. I love the cherry on top of the lighthouse :)
ReplyDeleteI know we are gonna visit there in the future, will definitely be contacting you for some restful picture taking fun!
ReplyDeleteDJan: What a nice compliment, thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteSweet Bay: Thanks! Are you new to my blog? Did you join on as a Follower? That would be great!
L.D.: Thanks! I don't know about a book, but maybe a future calendar!
Catherine: Yes, I loved that roof too!
Insanity: You BETTER contact me if you come anywhere within 100 miles of me, girlfriend!!! I would love to tour you whereever you want to go and see!
thanks for more tours. I think the beach would be a little hard on the feet with all those rocks. It is pretty but wear your sneakers, huh?
ReplyDeleteA camera would be a necessity at a place like this. The U.P. is at the top of my list for places that I want to see. I don't get to travel much, but hopefully someday...
ReplyDeleteLook at the sun and clouds! Looks like you had the most perfect day. And awesome images to prove.
ReplyDeleteGrannyann: I had tennis shoes on, and it was easy to walk the beach in those. I didn't even notice my feet with all that beauty around, anyway. ha
ReplyDeleteRatty: Yes, come up for sure! It really doesn't cost as much as you think...gas money and a little for motels. If you camp, it would be even cheaper for you...there are little cottages and clean old hotels that are really cheap to stay in too...you would LOVE it up here.
Ashley: It was the most perfect day!! Chilly but bright and windy enough to make wonderful white caps on the lake! Thanks!
What a beach, beautiful lighthouse!
ReplyDeleteI visited a similar beach, albeit sans lighthouse, at the Italian west coast in September, driftwood included - unfortunately the pictures I took are lost, thanks to a malfunctioning external hard drive.
Merisi: Oh, I would be so upset if I lost some of my pictures! I just bought an external hard drive because I am so afraid of that happening!
ReplyDeletePlus, now I think I also going to store them on CD's this winter to get all that memory off of my computer too. But I would be heartsick if I lost photos..they are part of my soul!
Those windows need Lloyd's Glass Cleaner! Seriously. I wish that my retirement was as laid-back as yours, but, as they say, I "chose another path". In fact, here it is, Sunday afternoon, and he is working at his shop (mixing up some product to have ready, while he is in FL) and I am squeezing a little bit of ME time in the office area, reading my favorite blogs. You should challenge a non-yooper to PRONOUNCE Tahquamenon!
ReplyDeleteJess: You will love your new adventure with the business, I am sure, but I do hope it slows down a bit for you so you can enjoy being in Florida! I hope to see you when we go down to see Kim. Did I tell you she is expecting? Due in April. So we will go down in December and again when the baby is due!
