I hate to disappoint you...but this isn't about THAT kind of Jay.
Today, I have pictures of two different kinds of birds....both a Blue Jay and a Canadian Jay.
Up until this year, I have not been able to capture a Canadian Jay on camera. Just recently, we saw two different opportunities to see Canadian Jays and this time, I got them on camera, much to my happiness!
Here is a cute Canadian Jay catching a worm!:
Just LOOK at his cute face!:
Here is a close up of his body feathers:
I think they have peaceful faces, much like doves:
This is one of the Blue Jays that stop by our yard everyday.
I've never seen any of them around here, but who knows eh, maybe I'll get to see one when I'm in your part of the world, and then I'll know what they are, all thanks to you!
ReplyDeleteHiya. Those are great photos. I have only seen a Jay once, but the ones over here are so different to yours. I like the Canadian Jay- he is pretty cute! And I love the picture of the wet Blue Jay- really cool!
ReplyDeletefabulous shots...you have a great eye and i enjoy the tetures of the close ups. nice crest on that jay!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, once again!
ReplyDeleteIts like you could reach out and touch them. Beautiful birds.
ReplyDeleteYou take the most wonderful peaceful pics ever. I truly enjoy them. I keep trying to get our bjays but they are too flighty.
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful weekend. TTFN ~ Marydon
Jientje: I bet you are excited about your trip...hope you not only get to see different birds but also a million other new things!
ReplyDeleteBemused: Thanks! Good to hear from you..glad you stopped by and left a comment!
Brian: Thanks! I love their crests too..and some have really long "eyebrows" which gives them expressions that are so funny!
Eva: Thanks! I love birds and I post a lot of photos of them in the winter, fall and spring.
Grannyann: I know! I love the macro feature of my camera for that reason. You can get really close photos.
Blushing: Thanks so much! Yes, the Blue Jays are a bit flighty. If you have corn on a feeder they sit longer to eat it and I capture them a lot this way. Hope you have a great weekend too. We got SNOW today! (Make sure you read tomorrow's post!)
The Canadian jays have bigger, softer eyes, don't you think? I think the blue jays look feisty. Great pictures, I just love them!
ReplyDeleteI'd never seen a Canadian Jay before. They do have a sweet face. We just get noisy Stellar's Jays here.
ReplyDeleteNice captures! Well done. Just amazing.
ReplyDeleteMan the feathers up close! Dang! Your camera is most awesome in your hands!
ReplyDeleteLoved the jays and being a Canadian, think any and every thing with that name on it is great. Beautiful photo's my friend, I so enjoy your blog....Hugs
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a Canadian Jay but we have lots of Blue Jays here. Great photos, especially the one with the worm. I love it. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
ReplyDeleteThose are great pictures. I love the Canadian Jays. They look so much nicer and friendlier than the Blue Jays. Blue Jays around here are pretty loud and obnoxious.
ReplyDeleteThe canadian jay looks "Nicer" for some reason!
ReplyDeleteDJan: You sure nailed it. Our Blue Jays are very fiesty. And I think the Canadian Jay is much more like a Dove.
ReplyDeleteCatherine: Blue Jays are noisy. They squawk all day. When I was watching the Canadian Jays, they didn't make a sound. But they were shy and flew every few seconds to a different spot, which made photographing them difficult.
Jenn: Thanks so much. I love taking bird photos.
Insanity: Yes, I love the macro of my camera for the detail it lets me capture, for sure!
Bernie: Love your Canadian humor and heart, too, my friend!
Judy: Thanks. I love trying to capture birds because many times they have "expressions" that are just too funny.
DVM's Wife: Tell me about it! :-} We have about 5 Blue Jays that come to our feeders every day, several times a day and boy are they noisy! We have never had a Canadian Jay at our feeders, I have only seen them in the woods.
Shelly: yes, the Canadian Jay has a sweet face and reminds me of a dove's face.
The Canadian Jay is so pretty, what a sweet face. I have seen many Blue Jays and even Grey Jays but this one I haven't seen. I love the eyes in the second photo. Your photos are so beautiful, thanks for sharing this adorable little bird.

Speaking of adorable little birds, I have some photos on my other blog of the cutest little duck. I have tried to find out what kind it is but with no luck so far. If you get a chance could you take a look and see if you recognize it? http://squirrelqueen2.blogspot.com/2009/10/out-for-swim-camera-critters.html
Thanks,
Judy
SquirrelQueen: I will go to your website and look at the duck closer...we have several kinds here that I also don't know the name of, but I will take a look to see if I recognize what kind it is. :-}
ReplyDeleteWait. Just wait. "Two Jays". What does that have to do with drug use? *blinks innocent and pure eyes*
ReplyDeleteMan your camera rocks.
Kearsie: Funny. I knew someone would get it. ha
