All year long, the community has spaghetti dinners, pancake breakfasts and sends out letters to people asking for donations for their annual fireworks show.
They have it over a bay, over the water.
It never disappoints.
Although the town has less than 400 people living in it and around the lake, the fireworks show attracts people from nearby towns and our park swells to about 2, 000+ people to watch it.
Every year, they outdo themselves.
We had a pretty good spot this year. If you look close in some of the pictures below, you will see the American flag lit up in the lower right hand corner of the shots, from the brightness of the fireworks.
Here are some shots of the wonderful show this year. Enjoy!:
Spectacular! TTFN ~ Marydon
ReplyDeleteI could almost smell the smoke and hear the booms!...I think I did squint my eyes.
ReplyDeleteGreat, great firework photos! Felt like I was there! Nothing like coming together in a small town for an event like this!
ReplyDeleteI got out my new camera, read about the special setting for fireworks, and managed to take lots of pictures of nothing. Thank you so much for showing me what can be accomplished. These are wonderful, and I enjoyed them immensely.
ReplyDeleteJoan, I love Fireworks and you have allowed me to enjoy them through your eyes, thank you my friend......such wonderful pictures, ....:-) Hugs
ReplyDeleteFabulous! It looks like you were right underneath. Amazing! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you live in a great place! What pretty pictures of the fireworks!

What beautiful beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had such a great spot!
Quite an awesome display. Glad you had a great holiday.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of your community ...
ReplyDeleteSuch events and activities can mean so much to individuals and families and somehow we seem to have forgotten how ...
June in Oz
Great stuff. I love fireworks. I looked at the first picture and thought, ooh I like this one. Then with the second one, I thought I liked it better. I went on down the line liking each picture better than the last. Until I went back to the beginning and liked that one better. I could go on and on like that. Each one is great. I love fireworks!
ReplyDeleteLOOK AT YOU GO WITH THAT CAMERA GIRL!!! I am impressed!! And these ARE the only fireworks I've seen in 17 years!! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI will be so happy when I can retire!!! Thank you for visiting, for following, and I am thrilled to follow you. Since I work fulltime still, blogging and commenting cannot be every single day, but I do get around! :-) ♥
ReplyDeleteBlushing: They were spectacular fireworks this year...we loved them!
ReplyDeleteWanda: Thanks! There certainly WERE a lot of "booms"...ha
Shellmo: It is (of course) the biggest event of the year here..many of the resident's families host reunions then so everybody goes to see the fireworks, too.
DJan: I had intended to play with MORE of the settings to see if I could get more effects, but it was dark and so I just left it on "fireworks" setting...no tripod either..so I was lucky to get these and several other shots.
Bernie: Glad you enjoyed them...you can pretend they are for Canada Day. :-P
Roxanne: We were practically right underneath them...what is nice is that they shoot them off from a little piece of land that juts out into the lake TOWARDS the park where everyone watches them from..so they all come over our heads. Wonderful place for them to do them!
Gardener: Yes, it is a wonderful place to live. What we lack in shopping and convenience, we gain in closeness and friendship and sense of community.
Merisi: You are more than welcome. You are on my daily reading list now!
Sherri: Thanks, we had a great weekend. How about you?
Sue: Thank you! We DID have a pretty good spot...there was a safety fence in front of us which caused me problems with some of the low ones, but all in all, most of the many, many shots I took turned out good.
Loree: And the cream on the top was that we had really nice weather for the last 4 days...sunny and warmer.
At last.
June: So true!!
Ratty: Glad you spent so much time looking at them and enjoying them. I took a TON, but didn't want to bore everyone with posting too many.
Cathy: Well, you need to c'mon up to Michigamme the next time you want to watch some fireworks in person..you won't be disappointed!
Great fireworks pics! Wow! I am so kicking myself for not bringing my camera and tripod. Urrrr. Our area had a beautiful fireworks display.
ReplyDeleteOK, that does it. I've had enough gorgeous photos of where you live and I am planning my trip up there for next year. Get ready!
ReplyDeleteRatty's comment is just as fun as your pictures. I am thinking of "copy and paste" them down here.
ReplyDeleteHad to drop by to see what great pics I knew you would take of the July 4th celebration... and you didn't disappoint.
ReplyDeleteYour fireworks shots are outstanding! my camera doesn't do them as well. great post!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fireworks photos, looks like you had a great holiday weekend.
ReplyDeleteJudy
They were great pics. I didn't go out this year so thanks for the show.
ReplyDeleteWow! Fantastic photos - some of the best I've ever seen - and I'm a professional photographer. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteBoomer: I am glad you are reading my blog too, don't worry about daily comments..you have a work life to worry about, where I do not! (Thank goodness!) ha
ReplyDeleteDVM's Wife: It would be a lot to haul up a tripod. I did not do that, I just took these the best I could. Luckily I didn't shake much. ha
Sharon: I would SO love that!! Just let me know when you are coming...if you don't like harsh winters, then I suggest you come in July or August next year as those are the warmest months here...but the most beautiful would be the last week in Sept. when the leaves are gorgeous!
Rainfield: yes, Ratty cracked me up saying he looked at one after another and then back to the first one!
Gaston: Thanks! There are more pictures of our day on the lake coming in my next post, where I was lucky enough to post the ultimate symbol of the 4th!
Cedar: Thanks! I loved going to the fireworks and taking them...I shot off about 300 photos but of course I could not post many here!
SquirrelQueen: Thanks. Yes, we had a wonderful day on the 3rd when we had our fireworks here, and then on the 4th when we had a beautiful, sunny day on the lake.
Grannyann: Glad I could bring the show to you!
Steve: Wow. I am speechless over that compliment (AND grinning.) Do you see me grinning? ha Thanks so much...you definitely MADE my day!
