Take a walk though my photos, and soon you will see......
What is THIS???
Nope, we weren't out on a search party.
Or wait.
Maybe we WERE.....
I loved this picture of a little boy, doing what we were about to do...
Ok.
Now you know.
Look at the haul this little girl made!
YUM!!
So off to the field we went.
My hubby bent down, lifted up the leaves and LOOK
what he found!:
We ate some in the field.
I THINK that's allowed, isn't it?
Well, SOME of us did.
SOME of us were taking pictures, eating strawberries and putting one or two in the containers...
How fun! I've never gone strawberry picking before, it seems like hard work. I think being the photographer and taste tester is the best job, you chose wisely :)
ReplyDeleteSTOP TORTURING ME!!! I didn't think I had any slobber left in me after salivating over my peach wine, but HOLY-WAH!!! Darn you woman!!! THOSE are making my mouth water and water...how many did you actually end up with again??? Verses eating I mean!
ReplyDeleteOhhh! My favorites ... ours are gone already tho. TTFN ~Marydon
ReplyDeleteNow you made me hungry. That is trouble since I have no food to eat at the office. Smile. But oh they look good.
ReplyDeleteIf only I weren't allergic...
ReplyDeleteWell drooling over the pix and licking the screen hasn't made my throat swell yet! What an amazing day!!
Ohhhh can I come over?!?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteDelicious post, I love how you set it up. I have very fond memories of picking strawberries in My Muskoka with my mother. She'd always give us some jars to take home. I cannot face it yet! Still adjusting to her loss!

Drooling,Drooling,Drooling,Drooling,Drooling,Drooling...OK!!!
ReplyDeleteGardener: Actually, picking them is pretty easy, because the berries are so big...blueberry and raspberry picking is MUCH harder.
ReplyDeleteCathy: We picked 14 quarts when all was said and done, because I brought some to my brother, too. It went really fast because they were so big.
Now today, I am hulling them and cooking them up into some jam and saving some for strawberry shortcake. We went to Chassell. When we got there, 3 farms had closed signs...but we asked at a shop and she gave me the name and directions to another farm 7 miles away. They were only open for one hour and by the time we got done and drove out, they already had their closed sign up. They are 2 or 3 weeks behind...plenty of green ones left yet, so if you get a hankering to come and pick, I have the phone number of the farm for ya!
Blushing: Yes, you are a lot warmer where you live, right? Ours are actually 3 weeks behind because of our cold weather. They are usually at a peak here on the 4th of July week or the week before.
Carol: Well, stop working. ha Yes, the picture even makes me drool and I have the berries in the kitchen. ha
Insanity: So sorry to hear you are allergic. I know many people are, but you are the first one I know.
Sooo sorry, you really are missing out on some wonderful fruit.
Brittany: Hell yeah!! C'mon up!
I wish I was your neighbor...and it was Christmas...and you were going to give out strawberry jam!

Joycee: Funny! I may hoard them myself this year and only serve it to company...so maybe you can come for a visit instead? :-}
ReplyDeleteJenn: So sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. I think of my mother-in-law as she always used to pick every berry imaginable and making pies and jams. She passed several years ago now.
Wanda: Sorry I made you drool..but they are drool-worthy. ha
ok, so shall I send you my address via email? can you send the jam by 2-day shipment?!?!
ReplyDeleteOh. My. Gosh.
ReplyDeleteI just licked my monitor screen. LOL
mmm ... those do look yummy!!! I don't blame you for hoarding them. lol
ReplyDeleteMy gosh, the colors are fantastic. And look at all the pretty wildflowers.
ReplyDeleteWell, enjoy all the jam making! Isn't summer wonderful!
What a inviting red, how can I resist...
ReplyDeleteMmmmm, those just look so ripe and juicy and sweet and .... I want some.
ReplyDeleteI have a few little plants but they produce nothing that looks that yummy.
Have a great day,
Judy
That looks like such good fun. Strawberry season is over here in the Med. Those strawberries look delicious.
ReplyDeleteKeep on blogging my friend!
ReplyDeleteAmazingly with this weird cooler weather we have had we had a great crop of strawberries. Looks like you did too!
ReplyDeleteHope you share some of those recipes for jam and such!
PLEASE have some pictures of your homemade jam when it's done! Nothing tastes better than fresh strawberry jam!!
ReplyDeleteRoshni: your picture is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI would love to mail you some...but it would probably be a sticky mess when it got there. ha
Julie: That will be the next thing...a scratch and sniff and lickable screen! haahaaa.......
Leslie: Hoarding sounds so mean, I prefer the word cherish. hahaaaa....
Sue: Yes, summer is WONDERFUL! But it goes by soooo fast...
Rainfield: yes, it is a treat for the eyes, the nose and the tongue!
Squirrelqueen: Wow, you have your own plants? that is pretty neat. Give them a few years, maybe they will start producing some?
Loree: When is your season for them?
Steve: you are new, no? Did you join on as a Follower? That would be great. Don't worry...I will keep on blogging..I am addicted.
DVM's Wife: I just use the freezer jam recipe on the package of SureJell...really easy...just mash your berries to make 2 cups of slush, add four cups of sugar (yes, twice the amount than the fruit. Damn. But you gotta spoil yourself now and then on your toast, right?).
You let that sit for 10 minutes, stirring a few times. Then in a saucepan you put 3/4 cups water and the pkg. of SureJell and stir the whole time until it comes to a boil and boil and stir another 1 minute.
Add that to your fruit/sugar mash and stir for 3 minutes...voila.
Spoon into jars, leaving 1 inch of air at the top and put in freezer. (leaving one jar for refrigerator, because of course you want some on your toast the next day!) ha.
The hard part is making homemade bread next for it to go on. hahaaaaa.
Lynn: I already stuck in in the freezer. I should have remembered to take pictures as I made each step of the jam...DUH!..would have made a good blog post!
Those berries look so delicious!!! I am in love:)
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to let you know you helepd my baby! Your constipiation remedy helped him. Thank you so much. We did just as you said and now my son goes
