Today, I am blogposting a menagerie of those type of shots for you that I have gathered over the last few weeks.
First, here is a cat tail that is starting to seed that was out in the woods:
And then: we found blackberry blossoms:
Here is a bouquet of wildflowers with my favorite Devil's Paintbrush in it:
I think this is a Goat's Beard blossoming. Anyone out there know for sure?:
We saw a lot of wild iris out in the ponds over the last few weeks, too. They are such a beautiful shot of purple and blue out in the fields of green:
Musk mallow grows all over wild in our area. I transplanted pink ones and white ones into my garden. They bloom for weeks and are maintenance free!:
Love this one that I finally got to self-seed in my garden!:
wow. truly some amazinng shots. as kids we used to have such battles with those cats... love all the color here. must venture to the woods now.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty flowers, I love the mallow. I'd love to have them growing wild around here! I think blackberries do have beautiful flowers, especially since it means blackberries won't be far behind.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, wonderful pictures! Today I went to the grocery store and outside with the plants I saw a bee, which (thinking of your cool shots), I took and it turned out great. I think I'll do a potpourri of shots, too.
ReplyDeleteThe cattail looks like a very dry ice cream cone. ptthh, makes my mouth dry!
These are all great photos. I didn't recognize some of the wildflowers. Beautiful bouquet, I use to do dried fall flower arrangements, but the conditions have to be just right or they just die instead of staying preserved.
ReplyDeleteWonderful!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers tell me how beautiful they are.
ReplyDeleteLoved the pics, as usual. thanks
ReplyDeleteOh, what a treat. I'm so glad I stopped by. They are stunning. Thank you so much for taking time to capture these moments of beauty and sharing them with us. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the photos, I did so enjoy them. I have never seen a Blackberry blossom before..they are very pretty! :)
ReplyDeleteBrian: The more I go out in the woods, the more I want to go again.
ReplyDelete:-)
Catherine: I've never made anything out of blackberries, have you?
DJan: I am anxious to see your bee picture, I am glad you thought to take it.
L.D.: How cool that you used to do dried floral arrangements...were you a florist or was it just a hobby?
Beautiful photos, the mallow is so pretty. I love wildflowers and you found so many. That fern in the sunshine is great.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures, as usual. I love the wild-life in your area. It's so very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love the Devil's Paintbrush! So colorful!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful flowers and wonderful pictures.
ReplyDeleteHow many times have I searched your site to see what kind of camera it is that you use for you fabulous photos? Thanks so much for photo blogging for our enjoyment. Also, not for a moment do I give all the credit to the camera. Kudos to the photographer's skill.
ReplyDeleteSquirrelQueen: Thanks so much. That fern was striking in person...must majestic!
ReplyDeleteLoree: Yes, we are so fortunate to have the beauty we have surrounding us. Even in the winter...but I am too wimpy to capture what I should in the winter here...I have to get braver about that.
Lynn: a lot of people think of them as weeds, but I rally like them.
Cathy M: thanks so much!
Anonymous: What a nice thing to say!
Believe me, without the talents of the camera, I could not get such good shots, especially the macros.
In case you couldn't find it, it is a Panasonic Lumix with 18X optical zoom and 10 megapixels...it has some manual settings which helps it not just be a point and shoot all the time. I am still learning with it....
As an artist who loves painting flowers, these are beautiful; thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBlackberry cobbler is delicious and I remember being younger, like jr. high age and picking enough for jam. Both were worth the prickles from the thorns :)
ReplyDeleteA.J.: So glad you liked them..go ahead and use one for inspiration if you want to paint it. I would be honored!
ReplyDeleteCatherine: So I have heard. I love raspberries, and I heard they taste similar, only with more tang.
I like the cattails the most. The flowers are all nice, but I have always loved cattails. I don't really even know why.
ReplyDeleteRatty: I like cattails too. Even when they get fuzzy!
ReplyDeleteManiacal: Thanks! I love finding things out in the woods or garden to take shots of.
ReplyDeleteRainfield: The flowers in the wild are sometimes more beautiful than the ones in my garden.
Grannyann: thanks for stopping by to look at them!
Roxanne: It is so nice of you to stop by to see them and to leave such nice comments all the time!
FarSide: Yes, blackberry blossoms are very pretty. I haven't tried making anything out of the fruit yet though.
