Some sniffs and then a Honk, honk!

The tulips are almost at their end, so I wanted to take some more photos of them before I forget their recent beauty. So, we went outside and took some pictures of them before taking a walk down to the lake.

Here are two beauties from my garden:

And a close-up:

Then, we took a walk down to another part of your lake and saw two geese. Upon closer examination, we were tickled to see that they had babies with them!

Mama Goose looked up suspiciously when she saw us from quite a distance:

She scurried her family back into the water:

Later, they came back out, but Mama and Papa gave us some warning HONKS!:

We remained very still, and they calmed down and went back into the water for a family swim:

They were careful parents and kept the kids in between them while swimming, as best as they could:

I didn't have the heart to follow them and bug them for more photos. They deserved the rest of the day to have a family outing!

  12. Amazing pictures Joan, I can't get over how far ahead of us you are in weather. We are just at the beginning of buds and blossoms and the tulips have just barely opened here in Alberta. I love tulips, I see them everyday when I walk by this one home as I walk. Apparently they are hard to bloom in our weather but whoever owns that house I pass have a wonderful patch of them in almost every colour. Take care/I care....Hugs

  15. Shellmo: I love springtime for all the flowers and animals and the greens that are so bright. It is my favorite season in our yard for my gardens too, since I have over 500 tulips planted all around.

Grannyann: Yes, the ducklings are funny. I noticed when we were out taking photos that the ducklings were not listening to their Mama very well and she looked frustrated. It was hilarious. She kept honking at them and they'd ignore her so she would have to physically go and tap them with her beak to get them back to following her. I remember that with my own kids. ha

Bernie: It is good to know that SOMEONE is behind us in weather and blooming...I look at all these other blog sites and they are getting grapes on vines and blueberries, etc. Cripes, we still have some leaves just popping out. Did you know I lived in Ontario for over a year when I was little (1st grade)?

Loree: I forgot where you live? I would really miss not having tulips around in the spring.

Sue: They did certainly give us the "evil eye" besides the couple of honks...Ducks are much more friendly when they come up to our dock in the summer with their babies...in fact if we feed them bread, they practically let us feed them and their babies out of our hands. Hopefully, I can get some photos of that later this summer.
