So, let's start the tour, shall we?
First, I will go out our front door so you can see the walkway full of tulips:
This is the view of our front yard from the street (the opposite of the first shot):
This is a small arc-shaped garden that I have in the front yard, facing the street:
Here is a closeup of the tulips that are in that garden now:
This is a photo taken off my front porch, looking to the left of our lot. We have planted some Lillies around the apple trees. The entire front yard is full of apple trees on that side. You can see the blossoms starting on the apple trees in this photo:
Looking on the right side of the front porch, we have a yard full of Forget-Me-Nots right now. Every spring we don't cut the grass there until they are done blooming and have gone to seed:
This is taken from the street looking at the front of our house, where I have the arc-shaped garden:
A close-up shot of the Forget-Me-Nots growing in the front yard:
This one is still our front yard looking toward the walkway:
Another shot of the Frog and the Forget-Me-Nots and tulips in the front yard:
Looking out at our back yard, where the dock and lake are:
Our back yard rock garden full of creeping phlox:
To the left of our driveway, on the side of our house: we have another arc-shaped garden. I have room to put some more annuals, if the danger of frost here ever happens. Hopefully in the next week or so, I can add them then!:
At the end of the tour, when coming up on our deck, I saw a visitor. So, of course, I HAD to capture him on film, too!:
Hopefully, as the next crop of flowers bloom, I can get some more photos, and post them on the blog, too.
I guess I can officially state that Spring finally hit here. I know the rest of you are into your summer, but here, we are just feeling like it is Spring. The good news, is that after weeks of weather barely making the mid-forties, we are supposed to be in the mid-sixties today and tomorrow: we are supposed to get in the 70's.
I have ONE WORD for that: itisaboutfrickintimebecauseIamsodamnsickofthiscold.
You truly live in Heaven, if a bit on the cold side. Better than the hot side! Your surroundings are beautiful, especially the forget-me-nots and the bench looking out on the water!
ReplyDeleteSeriously. You have missed your calling. Crawl out of retirement and get a job as a photojournalist for a wilderness magazine. Seriously. It's sick how great these photos are.
ReplyDelete(Also, don't know if you're aware- "sick" is a compliment. It doesn't mean like, you're gross or the pictures are gross, it means they are right on awesome. Just sayin.)
What a beautiful yard you have! I love the tulips. The forget-me-nots look so pretty, like a blue haze :)
ReplyDeleteIt definitely looks like spring there.
Just wonderful! Just makes me long for a house all the more!
ReplyDeleteYou know the best part I like about your place is that you preserved the naturalness (hope that's a word). I just hate manicured lawns and regimented flower gardens. This looks tended and independent at the same time (pretty much the way we should bring up our kids too, wouldn't you say?!)
What a lovely garden you have... all over your property. I especially love those apple trees because I've got a fetish about trees with winding, twisted trunks!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the rock garden too!
Everything is so beautiful around your home! The flowers really add some cheer! I'll be right over! LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteSharon: When the weather is nice here, it really is like living in heaven. We have nature all around us!
ReplyDeleteBut the older I get, the harder winter is on me here.
Kearsie: Thanks you sick blogger friend! Several other of my readers have been encouraging me to submit some of my photos to a magazine or contests,so I think I will look into it. I would love to make some money on the side from a hobby I love doing so much! You are wonderfully motivating! Thanks so much for believing in me.
Gardener: yes, spring has sprung. I can hardly believe it, but it was 75 degrees today with a warm breeze. MMMMmmmm...heavenly!
Roshni: What a nice thing to say, because that was our goal.. We preserved as much naturalness to the yard as we could, because we love that "look", especially since we have a log home.
Gaston: I love wild apple trees for that exact reason...the knarliness (spelling?) and crooked trunks with all that rough bark, and then in the spring they burst into those beautiful blossoms.
Shellmo: Thanks so much. Come on Down! Would love to meet you!
Your yard is gorgeous!!! One can tell you have put your heart into this haven!! Beautiful! Great photography too.
ReplyDeleteWow!!!!!!! Beautiful!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDefinately worth those long winters to get to that display.
Cathy: Thanks. We have only been here for 4 summers, so we have worked hard on the yard.
ReplyDeleteSue: thanks! It is such a delight to see the flowers after our long, hard winters, that's for sure!
Love how you leave the dandelions popping yellow color in with the forget me nots! Gorgeous as always...waiting for you to go pro, get an even BETTER camera and give this one to me. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your forget-me-nots...and multi colored tulips.
ReplyDeleteInsanity Kim: Thanks, Sweetie. I couldn't pick out the dandelions if I tried. ha I would love to go pro...gotta job for me???? And, oh yeah..I would love to get a better camera, but I have to learn more first. This camera is already past my capabilities at this point.
ReplyDeleteWanda: Thanks so much. I love them too!
Again, I love your home. Your phlox picture is outstanding. I have one tulip and it didn't even bloom this year.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tour. I needed something like that. The frog is in the perfect spot.
ReplyDeleteHello old friend, yes I am still alive I hope we can still stay in touch as we have a bit of history together on Blogger (you were my 1st friend on both sites I ran). I have missed you dearly. Your photos are breath taking of your gardens and flowers!
ReplyDeleteLife is truly a gift isn't it? How have you been?
Deb
Joan your yard and gardens are absolutely beautiful and you captured all of it's beauty with your wonderful pictures. I so enjoy coming here to see your wonderful post.
ReplyDelete.......:-) Hugs
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful flowers. I am so jealous :) And I can't get over that frog. He is way too sassy.
ReplyDeleteGrannyann: Thanks...I love the phlox too.
ReplyDeleteRatty: Thanks! You need a wooden statue of a SQUIRREL!!! haaaahaaa
Deb: Thanks! I had to stop going to your blog for a while, because I emotionally had trouble with your very highs and your very lows. Perhaps I will visit again soon. Thanks for stopping by my blog and saying hello. I am sincerely hoping your life is better now. You have been in my thoughts.
Bernie: Thanks so much! I have loved my new hobbies of gardening and photography so much!
Loree: Thanks! The frog is sassy and he makes a good guard over the Forget-Me-Nots, don't you think?
Wow! I'm overwhelmed with the beauty and (obviously) love you put into your garden, its breaktaking, and your pictures are stunning. I wish I could sit in one of those chairs in the front with my coffee and just take it all in :).
ReplyDeleteThe hummingbird looks fake, lol. Incredible shot of that fake hummingbird ;0.
I love, love, love your place! How beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDee-Zigns: Thank you SO much! I know my back still feels it sometimes (from bending over and gardening) but it is all worth it when they bloom every spring! You can come sit in one of the chairs with me and your coffee anytime. By the way, those chairs are butt ugly, aren't they? My husband got them at a yard sale...they badly need painting again...but they are comfortable, so he won't let me get rid of them! We have so many hummingbirds coming to our feeders. Aren't they adorable? I am taking a photography class tomorrow, so I hope to learn how to "freeze frame" them in flight so I can catch their wings still...wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteCarole: That is so sweet of you to say. We really like it...and since we have such cold weather up here, when we finally get spring and summer, it is time for celebration outside and for marveling at all the blooms and new green!
