We hung up our hummingbird feeder a few days ago, and we have had non-stop humming going on at it ever since. Some males, some females.
Here are some pictures I was lucky enough to capture. They sure are cute!
First this little guy was not shy at the feeder!:
When I learn how to manually set my shutter speed at the photography class I am going to take next week, hopefully I will be able to "freeze frame" him in mid-flight instead of getting these blurry winged shots!:
This one just loves to hang out on our satellite dish extra antenna and look out at the lake!:
He was so thirsty, he didn't even see me taking his photo!:

After I take my photography class, I hope to bring you more hummingbird pictures!

It take me some times to stay with them. Beautiful.
I just love your pictures! I took my camera to the park last Sunday and was playing with the macro setting. It's amazing how big a buttercup can look! I need to work on the shaky hands though.
You have me humming! Pretty dang good hummer pictures!! Don't you love their fuzzy, feathery little butts you captured so well on the last photo?!

I don't know if it is just ME (or my computer) or not, but thought I would mention that on a couple of the shots, the whole photo wasn't there. The right side is cut off and the one that I think you said was of a satellite dish doesn't have a bird in/on it.
Those are awesome! I am so jealous you caught those little buggers and they held still for you long enough to snap some pics. I have a pair hanging around my feeders and they are very comical. My goal is to get some pictures of them and soon!
Your photos are wonderful, so they should be exquisite after your class. I love these. Hummingbirds look so sweet, but I sure remember the time one headed straight for my head, and all of a sudden those beaks look long and sharp!

I've never seen a hummingbird other than pictures. I'm enjoying examining all of the colors on these in your pictures. And the pattern of the feathers. I like your bird feeder too.
You know last year I hung a feeder out but never did get a hummingbird. Don't know why.
I love to watch those little hummers. This year we lost our mimosa tree that used to stand right in front of my window. It was a hummingbird magnet and gave me a front row seat. I shall miss the show this year!

Those are amazing pictures you captured. You should see my mother's "bird feeders"..... you would think she is feeding the whole darn state!!!
Now I am not a jealous person but I find myself in awe of those beautiful humming birds, I don't think I have seen one since I moved to Alberta, we use to have them at home in New Brunswick and my dad always had feeders for them. I also remember the beautiful purple martin house he had mounted on a pole (footed in cement) It was high off the ground and oh so beautiful...Love these pictures my friend, your photography is awesome....:-) Hugs

Rainfield: Glad you liked spending some time looking at the photos. I love seeing the detail up close when I look at the photos too. They fly so fast in person you don't get to get a really close look at them then.
Joanie: I know exactly what you mean. I have not tried a tripod yet, and I know if I used one, I would get better photos. But I like the spontaneity of just being able to whip out my camera when I see something in nature and take a quick shot. I may practice my first tripods with my flowers, as they aren't going anywhere. :-}
Rural Rambler: I love the feathers and the coloring on the closeup shots, too. The detail on birds is amazing!

Gardener: Those were actually several different birds (I think!) but I patiently waited and snapped them. They kind of got used to me after a while, as I was sitting in a chair on the deck pretty close to the feeder when I took them.
Lynn: What a nice compliment! I can't wait for my camera class. I hope it is geared for the "challenged". ha
Insanity: Don't be jealous! Well, okay..just a little. Just sit by your feeder and click away, you may get lucky and get a good shot!
Cathy: That is so strange! No one else has said that and on both my laptop screen (which is smaller than my other computer) and my computer all the full photos show up. Did you retry? Is it still the same?
DVM's Wife: I will love looking at your hummer pictures too. These little guys are drinking me out of sap fast! I was so glad they found the feeder so quickly.

Bernie: Thanks so much! This is our first year putting up a hummingbird feeder. I was so tickled that they came right to the feeder within about an hour of hanging it. It was such fun watching and taking shots of them.
