We decided to take a walk into a lovely waterfalls just off US 41 highway. It is only about a 15 minute walk from the highway. Although the spring wildflowers were not blooming yet there, it was still very pretty because the water was high from the spring run off.
I will return there when the wildflowers are in bloom and take some more photos and return again when autumn provides the beautiful changing leaves, too.
After going down a slight incline, you are greeted by this nice sign, pointing the way:
As soon as you turn left, you see a wooden walk way over the marsh, which keeps your feet dry!:
We saw this tree with the big hole in it and inspected it closer to see what may be living there?:
We peered in the hole, but couldn't find any sign of life inside!:
So, we just continued down the path, which ran parallel with the river:
It wasn't long before we could see the river's current get larger and here more of a roar from the river:
It looked like winter threw some trees in the river:

Just around the bend, we saw mist in the trees. A SURE sign that the river's waterfalls were close!:
Sure enough, the approach to the falls showed us that the current was really high and the water was indeed roaring even more:
Here is a set of falls on the river before the end falls. Pretty!:
And, here is where the falls just go over the rock ledge:

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh that is so beautiful!! I miss water, living in the middle of the US without bodies of water around is tough (though they say there is water all around here, uh, WHERE?)
Early spring walks are the best; can't wait to see those pix!!
Absolutely beautiful pictures, I feel as if I have been there with you !
The little hole in the tree, looks like a teardrop, maybe it's a weeping willow ;)
Thanks for sharing !
Sure looks pretty up there. May I come live you you? I promise not to eat much, and I'll keep my room tidy. :)
Insanity: Yes! When I lived in Topeka Kansas I really missed the hills and the water all about us here in upper Michigan. I almost cried when I drove home again and saw Lake Superior again for the first time.
A Brit: I am so glad you enjoyed them! The tree hole does look like a teardrop...I hadn't thought of that! It was actually a pine tree.
Lynn: Yes, we have room for you. And, we would even feed you (now and then) ha
Now this is my kind of place! I really love seeing trail signs. The nature trails are of course always good, and waterfalls are some of my favorite things. This is the kind of place where I feel at home.
Loved being on your trip with you. The photos are great. Happy Mothers Day to you, too.
This was wonderful - thank you for sharing this walk with us! That river did look rough - nothing that I would put my kayak in - lol! But pretty to look at! And hey - you're not letting Lynn take my room are you??? :-0
What a pretty trail walk. I love watching rivers and the falls. I wonder what does live in that little tree hole?
Just beautiful are not even close to how I feel viewing your pictures, no words to describe the beauty you captured with your camera. Really looking forward to your next post. Happy Mother's day to you to my blogger friend.....:-) Hugs
Happy Mothers Day
What beautiful pictures, you live in such a beatiful area!!
The trail headed to the falls was great. It turned from polite and peaceful to loud and gorgeous. Good pictures.
I think we must be soul mates! I love the great outdoors and have to travel a long way for that kind of scenery. You are so lucky to be where you are and the photographs are just great!
You captured the little drops of water from the falls. Very nice shots and it looks like a gorgeous place to visit! And you didn't complain about bugs so must be they aren't an issue over that way yet either?
Too bad a little gnome didn't stick his head out of the hole in the tree, for surely that is his home you were peeking into!
The photos are smashing! Are you sure you're not a professional photographer?
Ratty: you would love it there. Maybe you can take a trip up to the U.P. this summer. It is a day's drive and you would be in heaven up here if you love nature!!
Judy: I am so glad you enjoy my photographs, because I love taking them! Happy Mother's Day to you, too!
Shellmo: Thanks, I loved showing everyone that pretty walk. And we have plenty of room for BOTH of you...your room is still here waiting for ya'!
Catherine: I love that walk too. We take it about 3 times a year. I don't know what lives in the hole..we will keep checking! :=D
Bernie: Thanks so much! I love taking photos when we go out, so there will be plenty more!
Sara: Hope you have a great Mother's Day, too with your new little Cole.
Rainfield: Thanks! Yes the sounds increase as you walk down to the falls, which is great!
Steve: Yes, it is a passion of mine to go out in our nature and enjoy it, especially with my camera. We are very lucky, but the winters are harsh. That is why we love the rest of the year so much here, we appreciate the winter being gone!
Cathy: No bugs yet...part of the reason we are going out into the woods alot NOW. ha Guess what we woke up to this morning? A dusting of SNOW and 29 degrees. It is only supposed to get to 44 degrees today..I am praying my tulips and daffodils can stand it. UGH!!
Gaston: I think it is the perfect place for a gnome to live in!!! Thanks for the compliment on the photography! It is a new hobby for me, so your remarks were quite a compliment! (blush)
I really enjoyed your walk in the woods, with the trees and the water and the mist. I could almost hear the crashing water as you meandered along.
Blessings, Star
