(As a nasty aside: was Dick Cheney on a dove-hunting stint when he accidentally shot someone?) Hard to think of them as potential targets, let alone food??! The year that my dad died, he had recently "remodeled" the birdhouse hanging off the side of the garage in Minnesota. Besides the "regular" tenants, a pair of doves was attempting, unsuccessfully, to put a nest on TOP of the sloping roof of the birdhouse. So Dad (urged by Mom, of course) hammered in some nails along the edge, so the doves would not have to constantly rebuild the under-construction nest. Greg got a great photo of that nest, by the way. Baby doves look fully grown, in comparison to young-ins of other birds!jessicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02598544917785126150noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3803801517332763895.post-6269993693376732832009-11-23T09:41:38.584-05:002009-11-23T09:41:38.584-05:00I am totally singing 12 days of Christmas right no...I am totally singing 12 days of Christmas right now after reading this post.

Unrelated, yes.Kearsiehttp://soundsliketomatoes.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3803801517332763895.post-40868018300672473812009-11-23T09:38:01.183-05:002009-11-23T09:38:01.183-05:00Alan: That's a great way to describe them.ha
